Switching off for Christmas

Christmas is just around the corner! And while it’s going to look a little different this year, the underlying desire for most of us remains the same – to genuinely give the gift of love to our nearest and dearest. Getting our actions to align with our intentions though is easier said than done! How can we get better at this for Christmas?
Well, a couple of years ago, we posted a blog addressing the whole situation of “Stress, Gifts & Christmas” on The 4 Habits website. Looking back at it now, it couldn’t be more relevant in the current world order, so we thought we’d share it again in case it helps bring more joy and peace to you and those around you – even if they have to be on the other end of a video call this Christmas!
We hope you will find this insightful and reassuring, and that it will help you strengthen your relationships through this Christmastime like no other!
As we look back on 2020 and wind down this Christmas, we’re grateful for health and strength, life and love, protection and provision, and much, much more. Yes, this year has presented many struggles, and bad news has been hard to avoid, but it has also been a year of much opportunity. We have moved forward with the transition to a much more scalable online model for equipping people with the 4 Habits, and with the launch of our charity.
We’re hugely grateful for all the many people that have come alongside us and allowed us to touch so many lives this year. But we also know that the journey would have been much harder without the safe haven of home and the love and support of those close to us.
So, as we take some time to mentally process all that has gone before and prepare for what lies ahead, we will be making real, personal efforts to be present and in the moment with our nearest and dearest. The plan is to put our phones down, sign out of email accounts and log off social media… but we do plan to put FaceTime and WhatsApp Video to good use to connect with loved ones with who we aren’t able to physically be with this Christmastime!
We hope this is something you will consider doing too and experience the positive difference it makes when you’re truly present with those that matter most to you.
We sincerely hope you have a wonderful festive season, regardless of the world situation you find yourself in, and look forward to being back in touch with you in 2021!
With all best wishes to you and your loved ones,
Jon & Andrea
